WHO WE ARE

For over 125 years, NCJW/Pittsburgh has been a powerful force for social change across the country, around the globe – and right here in Pittsburgh. The oldest Jewish women’s organization in North America, NCJW boasts advocates who step forward, speak out, and stand up for the needs of women, children, and families.

WHAT WE DO

Always attuned to community needs, NCJW Pittsburgh introduced the Penny Lunch program into Pittsburgh Public Schools, created a program called Friends in Need in 1975, and in 2013 launched the Center for Women with Jewish Women’s Foundation (JWF). You only have to look at our history and programs section to see what a tremendous impact we have made.

With more than 2,000 volunteers, members and supporters, the organization initiates and contributes to local community service projects, as well as numerous social action initiatives. From the Back 2 School Store and Project Prom, from voter registration to Women’s Reproductive Justice, NCJW Pittsburgh has been, and continues to be, on the leading edge of progressive social issues. NCJW Pittsburgh section volunteers can be found throughout our community undertaking projects, educating members and participating in advocacy and direct service initiatives to improve the lives of women, children and families.
